Construction of new 72,000 SF elementary and renovation/addition to high/middle school added 108,000 SF to the existing building. Ruhlin also performed abatement and demolition of Burbank Elementary, Sterling Elementary, and the Creston Building (built in 1915 by The Ruhlin Company).
The elementary school is located on the same campus as the district’s middle/high school and serves students with a design centered around the Library Media Center and Computer Lab. This core is surrounded by academic classroom wings which provide grade-level groupings of K-1, 2-3, and 4-5.
The middle/high school was completed in phases, with the first phase featuring a new addition to house grades 9-12. Phase II involved renovations to former high school spaces to create a new middle school for grades 6-8. The school features 32 classrooms, science labs, computer lab, cafeteria and full kitchen, two gymnasiums, administration offices, Library Media center, Performing Arts Center and Distance Learning Lab.
