This project involved the replacement of the superstructure of Bridge CD-214.3 over North Lake Street. The new bridge was built in two halves on temporary falsework. In order to maintain traffic (94 trains daily), two 24-hour outages were utilized to replace each half of the bridge while one main line track remained operable. Large excavators acted as cranes due to overhead power lines. The new bridge was rolled into place and set on new precast backwall pieces.
