Funded by Bud and Susie Rogers, great supporters of the Akron Art Museum, this 1 acre garden is a very unique space for downtown Akron close to The Knight Center and The Akron Public Library.
The garden consists of 4 main areas. The lower area on the west High Street side is called The Event Space which is a large concrete plaza type space with a tree canopy on the south end. Moving east you climb up in grade and there is The Green which is the grass space in the garden with a lit concrete feature wall on the south end. Continuing east you move up through the ramp criss-cross that is created with box planters made of Corten steel and filled with soil and plants. Arriving at the top of the criss-cross, you are in the Oasis, which is another plaza type space only with larger trees. This is the Broadway side of the garden.
The garden uses several different materials such as concrete, Corten steel, decomposed granite paving systems, custom lighting, grass and approximately 3,100 plants.
