Carroll County Energy – Blackstart Building

The Ruhlin Company furnished and self-performed the installation of a pre-engineered metal building and foundation to accommodate a Tier 4 diesel generator which provides black start capacity, peak shaving capacity, and emergency/standby capacity at the Carroll County Energy Power Plant. To support the three main modes of operation, modifications to the existing 4160V plant switchgear were required and new cable trenches were installed to tie the diesel generator switchgear back to the existing plant breakers.
