ODOT contracted with The Ruhlin Company to perform a bridge repair. The project consisted of rehabilitating and widening a 4-span steel beam bridge on SR-89 over IR-71 in Ashland County by removing the existing bridge deck and abutments, installing new abutments, and extending existing piers. Two beam lines of new structural steel were also added, as well as a new bridge deck, approach slabs, and parapets. The associated roadway and drainage work were also completed. Project was originally planned to have a five month closure, ODOT accelerated the schedule to complete in four months due to conflict with another project’s maintenance of traffic detour.
